Workshed Open House – Shared working time with options to connect

About the Event

Workshed Open House is a free and lightly structured co-working session for people who want to get work done, but don’t mind being around others while they do it.

It’s not networking, not facilitated discussion, and not an event. It’s about shared presence, with clear permission around how social you want to be.

You come to work. Conversation is optional.

How it works

People choose their mode on arrival using simple desk options:

• Heads Down – working quietly, not open to interruption
• Open to Chat – happy to talk, ask questions, or be interrupted

At the top of the hour there’s an optional two-minute check-in. No introductions, no pressure. Just a simple prompt like: “If you want to, share what you’re working on today.”

The rest of the time is exactly that: time.

Work quietly. Have a coffee. Switch your desk if your mood changes. Dip into a conversation if it helps. Stay focused if it doesn’t.

What it’s for

Workshed Open House sits in the middle ground between solitary co-working and structured sessions like PlayLab, or the more conversational TechConnect. It gives people a reason to leave their desk, without asking them to perform, pitch, or network.

It's also an ideal opportunity to view the entire Workshed space, too. Discounted rates are given for bookings made following attendance at an Open House event.

What it isn’t:

• Not a networking event
• Not facilitated discussion
• Not group work

No icebreakers. No forced interaction. No expectations beyond being respectful of the room.
